11 October 2007:Unfortunately to date we have only received about 60% of the players' army lists for checking so we expect that there will be late lists. Please help us make the event fun for everyone by getting your list in on time (this Friday, 19th Oct, 12pm WEST) so that we can publish a list of "runners and riders". As per the published competition rules, players submitting lists after the deadline will be penalised as follows:
This adds up quickly and will certainly be enough to cost you many places in the final standings. You have been warned. 11 October 2007:We must apologise as the link to the list-checker's email address was broken on the main list-submission page. The address was always correct, just clicking on it didn't work properly. If you were having problems it is now fixed. Sorry for any inconvenience. We are now very close to the list deadline of the 19th of October, please note that this is the deadline to have your list approved by rather than just a submission date. By great planning (or lucky co-incidence :-) a new temporary exhibition "Writing Irish History: the Four Masters and their World" has just opened in Trinity College Dublin in the library (ie same place as the Book of Kells). Quoting from press: "The showpiece will be the Annals of the Four Masters , a chronicle of Irish history from pre-history to 1616, compiled by Irish Franciscan monks and reunited for the first time since 1636. The chronicle was one of the first attempts to write a full modern history of the country." As it says, the manuscripts that make up the annals have not been in the same place for 400 years. The official site (pretty boring) is here The event polo shirt order has now been sent to the manufacturers, if you didn't tell us your size then you will be getting XL.
8 October 2007:We thought you'd like to know that there will be free WiFi access in the bar area of the venue, we are less sure of the signal in the main hall.
4 October 2007: We are pleased to announce that at the event we will be selling some of Gino Agnelly's charity DBM T-shirts (pictured on right) with all proceeds going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America. Click on the image of the shirt for a larger version. If you are interested in purchasing a shirt at the event, perhaps you could mail us to help us ensure there are sufficient shirts available. Please note that we can only supply shirts in natural cotton (off-white). The Finnish Wargames Association (FiWA) will have a registration desk for the 11th IWF World Individual Championships, which are being held in Helsinki next year on the 12th to 15th June, 2008. Sign up early for this event to ensure your place and avoid the bother of international money transfers. Rafa Tortosa of Melkart Miniatures Games has been in touch to say that people wishing to avail of his special offer of a special 5% discount for pre-orders need to mail him ASAP to ensure their order gets included in his freight shipment to Ireland for the event. The Society of Ancients will be present with some of their publications and also taking new memberships or renrewing old ones - join up now!
18 September 2007:We have now met our targets for player numbers and registration for this event must close very soon. If you are interested in attending, please let us know, now or it will be too late. We now have available two online versions of the event brochure in PDF format:
11 September 2007:We are pleased to announce that All Terrain, suppliers of hand made wargames terrain for the dedicated hobbyist, will be supplying a special custom terrain piece for one lucky competitor. This prize will be awarded by lottery among the players who manage to get their list submitted and approved by the list deadline. This will be in addition to the door prize of a painted 400AP army. Please help us by finalising your registration or sending in your polo shirt size (if you have not already done so) because we need to close registration very soon.
2 September 2007:We are pleased to announce that Melkart Miniatures Games, suppliers of wargames terrain, gaming mats and accessories, will have a trade stand in the main hall of the competition. Melkart are offering a special 5% discount for pre-orders that you arrange to collect at the competition. Also, a Danish reproduction of a Viking warship built in Dublin in 1042AD has just sailed into Dublin and is in dry dock in one of the museums. It will be here until next August and is just a couple of stops on the tram away from the venue. See the Sea Stallion viking ship museum homepage for more.
17 August 2007:Please note that the default measurement system for the competition will be metric, players may agree to use imperial if they prefer.
15 August 2007:The full competition rules have now been published. If you are interested in purchasing hot food at lunchtime for 13 euro per day then could you please email eicFood@iworg.com to help us estimate numbers. Please note that the juniors competition will only have four rounds (on Saturday/Sunday) and they will only play amongst themselves. However some of the older juniors may opt to take part in the first round of the senior competition on Friday night. Despite the lack of notices on this page, player registrations have continued to be tracked on an almost daily basis.
25 June 2007:Another group of players have registered.
17 June 2007:Another group of players have registered. Most of you have figured it out already but please note that extra seats at the Saturday night dinner can be purchased for spouses, partners, companions, etc.
28 May 2007:The first players have registered. If you are registering through another association don't worry if your name doesn't yet appear here as those registrations may be made in bulk during June. Please note that the payment deadline for reserved places is the 30th of June 2007. After that date places will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
24 May 2007:Some players have requested the SWIFT code/BIC for the bank. It is ULSBIE 2D
20 May 2007:A minor site update that requests registering players to include their Polo shirt size and provides a brief summary of the tournament rules (full rules to be published soon). Please note that unlike previous IWF events, this event will use ITC 3210 scoring rather than BHGS 0-32 scoring.
18 May 2007:Registration for this event is now open. Pricing information, how to register, etc. is all described. This site update includes new pages for Registered Players, Army List Submission and Food and Entertainment
21 Apr 2007:Improved the Accommodation section of the site by including a map and web-page links for most of the hotels listed. Full prices, registration details etc will be published in May.
9 Nov 2006:Started to fill the Sightseeing section of the site by adding History, Shopping and Pubs pages. Also other minor updates. 1 Nov 2006:Website created. Please note that event registration will not open until 2007 (please check the Registration page for details). Until then we will concentrate on tourist / supporting information to help you secure that vital weekend pass.
